Honored Alumni Awards

For 60 years, the Honored Alumni Award has served as the highest honor bestowed upon Cal Poly alumni. The awards recognize alumni from each of the university’s six academic colleges, Cal Poly Athletics and the Cal Poly Alumni Association. Through their contributions to their fields, to Cal Poly, and their impact in their communities and beyond, our Honored Alumni represent the best of Learn by Doing.

David Kerley

(Journalism, B.S., '79)

Kerley has traveled to every continent except Antarctica on behalf of ABC News. He has been honored with National and Regional Emmy Awards, a Peabody, and Edward R. Murrow awards.

Jasper has more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He is vice president, drug discovery at Rubedo Life Sciences.

Anber is director of construction and project management at Irvine Company, a LEEDS Accredited Professional and former Cal Poly Alumni Association board member.

Abbott is the vice president of engineering for Apple, Inc., former general partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and former vice president of engineering at Twitter.

Seybolt was appointed as the deputy undersecretary of the U.S. Air Force for International Affairs after having recently served as director of International Affairs and foreign policy advisor for the U.S. Coast Guard.

Chen is co-founder and chairman of Innovation Quest (iQ) and the retired vice president and general manager of the Cable & Wireless Platform Division of Cisco Systems.

Bickel is the president and owner of RPS Holdings, Inc. after having started his career in 1982 at what is now Rantec Power Systems, Inc.

Jon N. Monett

(Industrial Engineering, B.S., '64)

Monett served in the U.S. Air Force and the Central Intelligence Agency, and later founded the College of Engineering’s Quality of Life Plus Laboratory (QL+).

Hyman is the managing partner at ZGF Architects LLP, a LEED accredited Professional, and the proud designer of the Warren J. Baker Center for Science & Mathematics on the Cal Poly campus.
