On Saturday, March 8, alumni communities across the U.S. celebrated Cal Poly's founding date. There was no shortage of Cal Poly pride at all of the 18 community celebrations — from San Luis Obispo to Nashville, Minnesota, San Diego and more. Cal Poly Alumni Founders Day Celebrations 

March 8, 2025


On March 8, 1901, Governor Henry Gage signed legislation establishing Cal Poly. This exciting announcement came after a group of local citizens led by journalist Myron Angel had been lobbying for a state school in San Luis Obispo since 1894.
