Across the San Luis Obispo and Solano campuses,
Cal Poly is creating and renewing spaces that support Learn by Doing, innovation and community.
CHARLES AND CLAIRE JACOBSON ANIMAL HEALTH CENTER
The Charles and Claire Jacobson Animal Health Center advances the Learn by Doing approach to veterinary medicine, animal health care and animal agriculture. Named for Charles Jacobson (Animal Husbandry, '54), it provides hands-on research and clinical experience and is home to the Cook Family Gallery, made possible by John and Cynthia Cook (Liberal Studies, '82).
LYNDA AND STEWART RESNICK STUDENT SUCCESS CENTER
Construction is underway on the Lynda and Stewart Resnick Student Success Center, a three-story facility scheduled to open in fall 2027. Made possible by a $20 million gift from Lynda and Stewart Resnick and $9.5 million from Associated Students Inc., the center will bring student support programs, flexible-use rooms and community spaces together in one location.
JOHN MADDEN FOOTBALL CENTER
The John Madden Football Center is home to Cal Poly Football, giving student-athletes spaces to train, recover, study and build community. Made possible through the generosity of the Madden family and Cal Poly Athletics donors, it includes meeting rooms, strength and conditioning areas, medical and training spaces, coaches’ offices and gathering areas.
KENNEDY LIBRARY
Kennedy Library reopened in 2025 following a major transformation centered on student learning, collaboration and accessibility. The renewed library features expanded study space, two seminar rooms, an expanded Julian’s Café, exhibit galleries, improved wayfinding and a brighter, more open interior.
GEORGE WURZEL PLANT SCIENCES BUILDING
The George Wurzel Plant Sciences Building anchors Cal Poly’s Plant Sciences Complex, bringing students, faculty and industry partners together for teaching, research and applied work in plant production, food systems and environmental stewardship. A gift from the J.G. Boswell Company, honoring George Wurzel (Crop Science, '87), helped make the building possible.
CAL POLY TECHNOLOGY PARK
The second building at Cal Poly Technology Park expands opportunities for students, faculty, industry and public partners to collaborate on applied research and workforce development. The space supports organizations that complement Cal Poly’s academic strengths and create real-world learning opportunities for students.
PARK 1144 CHORRO STREET: MUSTANG SHOP AND CIE HOTHOUSE
Cal Poly’s downtown location at 1144 Chorro St. brings together the Mustang Shop and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship HotHouse. The space connects students, alumni, local businesses and entrepreneurs through coworking areas, startup support, events and retail.
BOAT BASIN AND PIER EXPANSION
The Boat Basin and Pier Expansion will provide the infrastructure needed to homeport and operate Training Ship Golden State at the Solano Campus. The project includes a new pier, two mooring dolphins, a wave screen and landside improvements that will support cadet training for years to come.
CAL POLY PIER
Cal Poly is renewing key components of its 3,000-foot pier in Avila Beach, extending the facility’s service life and supporting continued access for marine research and academic programs. The pier gives students and faculty a distinctive place to study the Central Coast’s ocean environment through hands-on learning.
