4,000 Grads Join Cal Poly Alumni Family

gradsOn Saturday, more than 4,000 graduates joined the Cal Poly family at two Spring commencement ceremonies. About 30,000 family, friends, faculty and staff were on hand for the celebrations, and one graduate, Jessica Freedman, received a special surprise from her family.

Cal Poly's 2011 Great Grads

photo of betty purifyAmong some of the outstanding grads this past weekend were retired grandmother Betty Purify (at right); Victor Escalera, the first in his extended family to graduate from college; Anthony Pannone, formerly with the San Francisco Giants; entreprenuer AJ Forsythe; and Tamara Wells, a member of the conference champion women's basketball team.

CAL POLY MUSTANG ATHLETICS

The 2011 season begins at San Diego State on Saturday, Sept. 3 when the Mustangs look to take down the Aztecs for the third straight time. Watch for details on a pre-game Mustang Tailgate in San Diego. football

The first home game for the team will be Saturday, September 17. Order Stampede Club season tickets online or call 805-756-2255.
