Peru
Winter, 2008
We traveled to Peru in January. For the first few days of our trip, we stayed in the Mira Flores district of Lima. We had an exciting adventure to the lab of archaeologist Dr. Guillermo Cock, where we got an up and close look at mummies dating from the Inca period.
Staying in Cuzco and visiting its many surrounding temples, including Qorikancha, Sacsayhuaman, the Ollaytaytambo fortress, and the Sacred Valley of the Incas, were highlights. And seeing Machu Picchu -- indescribable! Llama petting, learning an Andean art, and eating guinea pig -- just a few more of the special moments of this trip.
