A Message to Mustang Merchants
The Cal Poly Alumni Association is pleased to invite your business to participate in our new “Mustang Merchant” program. Every year, more than 2,500 students graduate from California Polytechnic State University and joined the ranks of approximately 117,000 Cal Poly alumni!
Currently our association has a membership base of approximately 11,000 households with 3,500 alumni membership renewals per year. So, you may be asking, “What does this mean for my business?”
In 1998 a program called “Partners with Local Merchants” was created between the Cal Poly Alumni Association and local businesses in San Luis Obispo and surrounding areas. Its goal was to give Cal Poly Alumni Association members a discount at participating businesses while at the same time benefiting the businesses with cross-promotional efforts.
When the program started, participating businesses offered a 10 percent discount to Alumni Association members who presented their current membership card. Since the program has been renamed the "Mustang Merchant" program. Revised, new promotional efforts have been added to allow more exposure for the local businesses taking part in the program.
These additional benefits include a direct link to your business on the Cal Poly Alumni Association Web site, regular promotion in our Alumni Newsletter, mailed to our members two to three times annually, and invitations to participate in Alumni Association special events.
Please consider increasing your business exposure and become a “Mustang Merchant.” Please review our list of current partners (general merchants, hotels, and restaurants) expressing interest in joining our program. If you are interested, please download and complete our Mustang Merchant Participant Understanding Form (requires Acrobat reader) and mail it to the Cal Poly Alumni Relations Office, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA, 93407.
